I wanted to use my last post to talk about my series N’awlins Exotica. Currently, I’m working on book 5 and after Hell Hath releases, I’ll be doing the last book in the series. This collection is really special to me. It was a way for me to step out of my comfort zone and write about a place I love, coupled with a subject I don’t know much about; law enforcement.
Book one was supposed to be just a romance between a young stripper and a cop, but by the time I started thinking about book 2, the plot got even thicker. A serial killer, a budding romance between two cops, one who claims to be straight and one pansexual. Then there’s the seedy undertones, a controversial, homophobic character, as well as mixing romantic subgenres into one series.
It has been a ride! Though I’ve agonized over this series, asking help from friends, and trying to research law enforcement in New Orleans, I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. The characters have been a joy to work with, even my bad girl Kenina who a lot of readers hate. *laughs*
If you haven’t done so, please check out the first four books. I’m looking to release book 5 by June and the last book in Nov/Dec. There are plans to make a spin off with the Chief as well as an m/f for secondary characters, but we shall see. There are four factions to the series. N’awlins Exotica, N’awlins Exotica Paranormal with my twin vampires, N’awlins Masquerade which is all romance, and Immortals which is urban fantasy. Ugh, I really don’t have a clue when I’ll have time to finish them all, but I’m looking forward to the challenge. Writing under 3 muses is exhausting!
The city of New Orleans is rich in tradition, diverse, and known for the inspiration it provides. In the “Big Easy” there lies the hunger for the erotic as well as the unknown. The residents here feel that sexual energy and it reveals itself through their various creative activities.
Join the characters as they take a wild ride on the edge, enjoying their town for all it has to offer. There’s a certain magic in the air, an erotic magic that cannot be ignored.
