Beloved Enemy features Kerry Marchant who first appeared in Starquest, although he wasn’t in the second book ‘Children Of The Mist’, although he did get a mention. The more I got to know him as I wrote the book, the more he got under my skin as I found out about his past and why he is such a brooding, tortured hero! (I find the brooding type so fascinating!)
Do you ever wonder what your characters think about you? I have a feeling I was pretty low down on Kerry Marchant’s list of favourite people after ‘Starquest’ the first book in the Destiny series. He didn’t fare too well in that book although I have to admit some of it is his own fault, he is somewhat on the stubborn side and inclined not believe in anything he can’t prove beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Well I have to admit he hasn’t had it easy, he had a rough time growing up and had to learn to survive by his wits. Then fate (yes, Kerry it was fate, not me!) dealt him a pretty nasty blow in Starquest and he has never really got over it.
He’s been nagging me for a long time to give him his own story – and at last – after rather a long time I have to admit, I caved in and the result is ‘Beloved Enemy’. When the story opens, he is, as the blurb says, ‘tortured by memories, guilt and self blame – will he finally get closure and a ‘happy ever after’? Hey this is a romance isn’t it – what do you think?
The third in my SF Romance series ‘The Destiny Trilogy – ‘Beloved Enemy’ published on 11th March 2016. Although every story features some of the same characters, each book can be read as a ‘stand alone’ novel.
Cat Kincaid is obsessed with killing the man she believes is responsible for the torture and death of her sister, but when she eventually catches up with him, survival becomes a greater priority than revenge.
Kerry Marchant, haunted by memories, regret and self-blame, shields himself from the pain of the past by committing himself totally to the starship, Destiny, of which he is part owner. However, the beautiful, red haired woman who reminds him of his lost love, and who he suspects is working for a corrupt regime, represents a possible threat not only to the ship, but to his heart.
Marooned on an inhospitable planet, they need to work together to stay alive, fighting not only unknown assailants, but their growing attraction. But how can they learn to trust each other when he has vowed never to get close to a woman again, and she made a solemn pledge to destroy him?

A COUPLE OF REVIEW SNIPPETS:
“I can’t remember the first time I read a science fiction romance but I know it’s a subgenre that I’ve enjoyed reading in the past so when I got the opportunity to read and review Beloved Enemy by Hywela Lyn, the third book in her Destiny Trilogy, I jumped at the chance. Set on an “uninhabited” planet, Beloved Enemy tells the tale of two people, determined not to fall in love with each other, who find themselves being tested and judged by a “superior” race of beings determining whether they should allow mankind to expand further into space or put an end to them. Filled with action, emotional angst and just the right amount of romance, this is a book science fiction romance lovers will definitely enjoy.! (By Maria D)
“The way that Hywela Lyn has combin all of the characters in this great story will keep you locked in the pages of this book from start to finish ,and will also keep you on the edge of your seat until you fine out what is going to happen next. I could go on and tell you more, but that would just spoil everything for you .So I highly recommend that you read this amazing story ,you won’t you be disappointed.! (Bella’s Blog”)
