I’ve been fortunate to find not one but two great new publishers after the sad closure of the one who had exclusively published Deirdre O’Dare for twelve years! The second new one is JMS Books, another small indy publisher that offers nothing but LGBT fiction. They have some great long term authors and are collecting new ones from those of Amber Quill, Samhain and other publishers that are either closing or limiting their releases.
Since I had three unpublished tales at the time Amber Quill closed, I wanted to find homes for them ASAP and with two of them spin offs from prior stories. I was very pleased to be able to get the older ones out again first so new readers could follow the whole sequence. JMS just released my reissue of The Mule Man this past week. It will be followed on July 9 by A Mule For a Princess which is a brand new story! Both of these are m/m romances and explicit but about a lot more than ‘just sex’ LOL. I write love stories with adventure no matter who the two principals are although I confess some are pretty hot! You may well ask why would anyone choose to write stories featuring mules!? Most of my long term fans and readers know I am a huge dog lover but mules? Well, I have a history with the long eared critters as well. Many years ago when I was young and maybe foolish 😉 I spent about ten years operating a business with my father in which we bought, trained and sold mules and horses, mostly for trail riding and outdoor fun. I probably worked with fifty or more mules during that time and grew to have a deep respect for them. The concessionaire at the Grand Canyon chooses mules to take tourists into the canyon for good reasons. They are more reliable and much more surefooted on rough terrain than 90% of the horses. I’ve been away from all equines for a long time since dad’s failing health forced us to shut down and I went off on different paths but the love is still there. Anyway, with this in my history, I knew I would have to get some mules into my fiction sooner or later. Here they are. I already have a couple of follow-on tales buzzing around the back of my weird brain so there are likely to be more.
Here are the covers of the two books and I will do my best to get excerpts of both stories up in the next day or two. However I am leaving tomorrow for a week in Alaska–this is to work on another big project and passion of mine, a book on the women who race their sled dogs teams in the long distance races up north. They are real heroes in my opinion and mostly just fantastic ladies as well. What great role models they can be for our young adult women who are getting overdosed on some often trashy acting celebrities these days. That’s my purpose for the book! I may not get on line much for a few days but I’ll pre-schedule a post or two. That is why I may not respond to comments right away, though.
