In the third book of the series around Ethan and Jazmin, they’re on vacation on the Bahamas, joined by their friend Ryan and his new lover. However, their boat trip on the first day goes wonky, and they are taken on a luxury yacht larger than some houses they know. Jazmin’s not as happy as she thought she’d be.
An excerpt –
Jazmin didn’t quite share Ryan’s exuberant mood. Though glad they didn’t need to sit on a dead boat, she distrusted the quick decision to be taken on board. It would’ve been enough to arrange to be towed to the next harbor. Then again, she nudged herself mentally to not see betrayal and danger everywhere she went.
Ethan embraced her from behind and lowered his chin on her shoulder. “You look even more worried than I. We’ll be with them only for a short while. The next harbor can’t be far away. It’s but a short hop for them.”
“It’s just me being irritated by strangers. I find it hard to just…trust in the good of people. I wish I was Ryan, but I’m not.”
“No, you’re my lovely wife and I’ll take care that no stranger gets too close to you.” He made eye contact. “Will that do? Or shall I tell them that we prefer staying on our boat and just being towed?”
“Don’t do that to Ryan. The kid wants to have a look at this very big toy. Do you want to ruin that?”
“I put my wife over my friend. That’s not debatable.”
“I’ll make it. These people are probably very charming and hospitable.” She touched his hand and couldn’t quench her uneasiness. “Just stay with me and tell me if your sensors report anything out of the ordinary.”
