Just going to take a few minutes to talk about one of my other series, since I know more than a few of you are interested in what’s going on in my other worlds…
My Tales of the Were started way back on Halloween of 2006 with a little book called LORDS OF THE WERE. The success of that book really surprised me and I admit, I was a little unprepared for the way it took off and continues to be popular with paranormal erotic romance fans.
It’s a menage. It’s about werewolves. And it was designed to parallel a series of vampire novellas I was writing at the time for another publisher who has since gone out of business. As an interesting sidebar, those first few vampire novellas were the seeds of what has become my Brotherhood of Blood series.
Both the Brotherhood and the Tales are related and there is some crossover. Most notably, the book SWEETER THAN WINE combined the two series and made readers aware that they really are set in the same world.
The Tales of the Were is a loose collection of stories that follow mostly werecreatures – wolves, big cats and other kinds of shapeshifters – through a series of adventures where they find the loves of their lives as well as work toward the defeat of an evil enemy. The Brotherhood of Blood stories are similar, but follow a different set of characters and involve more vampires.
So far, the Tales of the Were include the novels LORDS OF THE WERE and INFERNO, the short story THE PURRFECT STRANGER, and the newest addition, Tales of the Were: ROCKY. SWEETER THAN WINE also fits in there somewhere, but I recently realized I’m sort of filling in around that book with backstory, so according to the internal chronology of the stories, the events in SWEETER THAN WINE haven’t quite happened yet, if that makes any sense.
I know it’s confusing. This all sort of began with that first publisher that went out of business and orphaned my vampire books. I had to figure a way to move them over to a new publisher and still keep the other series I had started cohesive. This is what I’ve come up with and so far, it mostly works. Of course, I take full credit and blame for any mistakes that might’ve crept in. This isn’t just confusing to you, the reader, but to the writer as well!!! Ack!
One good thing is that these stories aren’t really all that dependent on the ones that come before. In other words, you can read them as stand-alone books and not be too confused. I designed it that way when I realized that the behind the scenes stuff was going to cause some issues.
That said, here’s a little bit about the most recent release, ROCKY. And just as an aside, I’m hoping to have the follow-up to ROCKY, a book I’m calling SLADE, out in April.
On the run from her husband’s killers, there is only one man who can help her now… her Rock.
Maggie is on the run from those who killed her husband nine months ago. She knows the only one who can help her is Rocco, a grizzly shifter she knew in her youth. She arrives on his doorstep in labor with twins. Magical, shapeshifting, bear cub twins destined to lead the next generation of werecreatures in North America.
Rocky is devastated by the news of his Clan brother’s death, but he cannot deny the attraction that has never waned for the small human woman who stole his heart a long time ago. Rocky absented himself from her life when she chose to marry his childhood friend, but the years haven’t changed the way he feels for her.
And now there are two young lives to protect. Rocky will do everything in his power to end the threat to the small family and claim them for himself. He knows he is the perfect Alpha to teach the cubs as they grow into their power… if their mother will let him love her as he has always longed to do.
