When we first started tossing around ideas for our new paranormal romance series, Azure Boone and I put some pretty off-the-wall ideas out there. A few stuck.
All the Archangels in the Archangels Creed series are special in LOTS of ways. First, they’re the Elite Warriors of the Brotherhood of Archangels. These guys battle demonic forces throughout the Seven Universes and all the Wilderness between. BADASS is a gross understatement.
Using a different gem or mineral for each, Archangel Uriel, their Commander, created armor and weapons for all of them. Over the ages, each Archangel took on the properties and characteristics of his gem. Kassern’s eyes are the same red as his ruby armor, and Dorn’s are pale blue aquamarine.
The weapons they wield use spiritual power in lieu of sharp edges, points or projectiles, and react to the Archangels’ thoughts and emotions. Kassern’s ruby chains form a fluid, living extension of his body as he learns about the humanity he inherited in a power exchange intended to help save the world. He becomes very inventive in the use of those chains as he explores the new appetites he gains as an unexpected side-effect of becoming partly human.
Second, they’re all dead sexy in very unangelic ways. Dorn considers himself above such human frailties, so when he suddenly wants to use his aquamarine whips for something other than killing demons, he’s stunned. At least he knew going in that he would have to bind himself intimately to a human. He chose a nun-in-training expecting a devout woman willing to make any sacrifice for God. He gets one who tempts him to do the very things he ridiculed Kassern for.
Join us as we take these larger-than-life beings and cut them down to human level and show them love and desire. All while they help damaged mortals find love and fight to keep it as they all work to save the world.
