Excerpt #5 (PG) from Accidental Romance by Jessica E. Subject – contemporary western romance

Good day! I have one more excerpt for you from Accidental Romance. This is the first time Leanne has scene Jake since her accident. And it you’re wondering, I purposefully left out the scene that the accident occurs in. ;)

Accidental Romance - a New Adult contemporary romance by Jessica E. Subject

“Why would I be anywhere else?” Tina gripped her arm again. “You’re still the same person. So what if you’re one hand less.” A tear trickled down her cheek. “Anyone who can’t see you’re still the same beautiful Leanne is an ass.”

“I agree.”

Leanne turned her head toward the doorway at the sound of the familiar husky voice. But the sight was not what she was used to at all. Instead of his dirty and smelly farm coveralls, Jake had on a T-shirt that stretched across his ripped chest, and his blue jeans hugged all the right places. He’d left the ball cap somewhere else, revealing the wave in his dark brown hair. When had he grown up from the teen she remembered in high school? His blue eyes were fixed on her as if she’d disappear if he glanced away.

But she wasn’t going anywhere. He might have saved her life, but she’d never be the same. Her dream of taking over the farm was shattered. She’d never work by his side again.

Tina leaned down and hugged her. “Well, I think it’s time for me to leave. You have a hero to thank.”

No. For some reason, she was scared by the idea of being alone with Jake. He’d never hurt her, but something else worried her. She reached for her friend, but Tina had already made her way to the door.

“I’m glad you were there, Jake.” Tina smiled as she passed him. “Thank you for saving her.”

He nodded, but his gaze remained on Leanne, not following her friend as she’d often caught her boyfriend—ex-boyfriend—doing. She needed to say something, thank him, but there was a problem between her mind and her mouth. She suddenly couldn’t talk. Oh God, she was a teen again, crushing on a boy. No, a man who she saw clearly for the first time.

Then she remembered. She was damaged goods. No man would ever want her. Especially Jake.

I said it before, but I have to say again. You capture your characters emotions so beautifully that I feel like I know them personally.
    That’s another great excerpt.
    Thanks,
