As Tallie pulled boxes of photos and newspaper clippings out of the attic, memories of Bernie assailed her. The sound of his laughter echoed in her heart. The touch of his hand whispered across her cheek. And his urgent message came back to her, “Look for the letter, Tallie. If something happens to me, look for the letter.”
Over their years together, Bernie had written Tallie many notes and a few letters. She kept them all. However, as she looked through years of memories, there was no new letter.
After Bernie died, Tallie had searched in all the obvious places, with no success. If he hadn’t put it in an obvious place, the letter must contain something he didn’t want others to know. Something incriminating? But for whom?

Tallie revealed a number of surprises about herself as I wrote her story. However, the letter doesn’t turn up until a later story. So Tallie will have to wait to find out what it says also!
